When I was in school, there was no Internet. No Ticketmaster. If you wanted to get tickets to a hot concert or a big game, you had one option: camping in line.

Then came the Internet. Camping for tickets became sitting at your desk, clicking madly on a link, and hoping you would get to the order page before the event sold out.

Last week, Science Online 2011 became one of those hot ticket events. Within 45 minutes, 300 slots filled with members of the science bloggeratti.

I felt so left out last year, following the meeting online. The image above was posted in response to discussions at the event. #scio11, as we call it on Twitter, begins two months from today. That calls for a W00T! Perhaps two!
