Another Info Sheet to Comment On: Nephrotic Syndrome

Thanks to everyone who read and commented on my new improved biopsy handout. I have now tried to simplify my nephrotic syndrome sheet.

Once again, you can use the original sheet as the "exhaustive" lay handout with the complete information.

Thanks in advance for your comments!

There is, I think, a similar problem to the biopsy handout: This one doesn't have a "This is a likely thing to happen that you may notice in the future, and we can treat it/it's normal" tag toward the bottom. I am not familiar enough with nephrotic syndrome to be very comprehensive, but an item under the "flares" bullet point (which can be shortened) might be something like this:

    * Flares can result from routine viral illnesses like a cold or the flu, but they usually just require a little more prednisone for a few days

Remember: If there's one thing that parents do REALLY WELL, it's panic when something that's related to why they saw you in the first place happens a few weeks later. (Been there, paniced less than most because I have at least a baseline knowledge level on a lot of these things, observed it ALL THE TIME among other parents — even the well-educated ones!) Ensuring that there's a mention on something that they may well keep may help limit that panic and get better information... so that if there REALLY IS cause for panic, you can rule out the routine stuff more easily.
